Balance Solar is using its Prepaid PPA to save the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport (referred to as SPI) nearly $1,000,000 on the cost of its solar installation.
SPI will keep all solar-related incentives from the 2.8 MW project, and will use a low-interest loan to pay its upfront cost.
Spectacularly, this project will feature a "PPA in a PPA". In other words, SPI will use its own PPA to sell the system's electricity to its tenants, which will earn it a quicker rate of return and a long-term source of revenue.
The airport, located in Springfield, Illinois, serves more than 150,000 people annually.
